Registry User Interface

The Graphical User Interface (GUI) of Fusion Registry is a web based application which allows users to view, create, edit, and delete structures. The GUI supports other operations for users such as a free text search, links to web services, user maintenance, and structure download operations. It is a sophisticated tool which provides a client level cache, on demand loading of structures, and lazy loading of code lists, all of which aid in a rich user experience by minimising delays experienced by the user.

Below is a table showing the structures supported by the Registry:

Administration Interface

The Registry provides an administration GUI providing support for updating the Registry to the latest version, modifications to the Registry security settings, Registry database settings, and the email server settings used for all Registry email notifications. The Registry can be administered via the Registry GUI, but for security purposes this functionality can either be fully removed, or the administrator can specify allowed IP addresses that can access these administration pages. There is also a desktop administration application, which can be used to administer multiple instances of the Registry. The desktop application must be run on the same server that the Registry is hosted on. The desktop application can be run on a Windows platform, or a Debian based platform such as Ubuntu.

Audit Interface

The Registry also offers an Audit interface available via the Registry GUI, or through the desktop application mentioned in the section above. For security reasons the Registry GUI audit interface can be removed or locked down to specific IPs in the same way as the Administration Interface.

Every submission and query performed on the Registry is audited and the data is stored internally. This data is represented in SDMX form allowing the interface to take advantage of data query and visualisation components created for the Fusion Project. This allows users to view subsets of the audit data as a time series Cartesian chart, a cross sectional bar or pie chart, or a hierarchical table.

Updating the Registry

As the Registry is an ever evolving product, we believe it is vital to put in a simple mechanism for a user to easily update to the latest version, without losing any data or settings. The administration tool will inform if there are any newer versions available, and provide information about the changes between versions. The Registry can be updated using the administration tool at the click of a button.
