Services
Metadata Technology supports its customers in the implementation of ISO/TS 17369 Statistical Data and Metadata Exchange (SDMX), Data Documentation Initiative (DDI), Extensible Business Reporting Language (XBRL), ebXML registry, and related open standards in the statistical field with a range of service offerings:
Training
Learn the content of the SDMX and DDI standards, and how to implement them in systems which maximize efficiency in your information collection, reporting, dissemination, and internal processing. Our staff are the leading experts on the design and use of the SDMX standards and the relationship between primary reporting standards such as DDI and XBRL, and the SDMX standards for aggregated data. Data and Metadata Structure Design
Good data analysis and design of data and metadata structure, code lists and taxonomies are the cornerstones of the SDMX, DDI and XBRL standards, however you are planning to use them. In particular, the use of the SDMX standards requires the development of data or metadata structure definitions in order to process the data and metadata in a generic way and to drive the metadata registries that support data on demand and data warehouse integration.
Metadata Technology can help you make sure that you've got the best possible structures for your data and metadata. [more]
Application Development
Whether you are building a data warehouse, disseminating data through a web portal or supporting statistical analysis packages, Metadata Technology can help you leverage the metadata-rich standard formats offered by SDMX and DDI. We have experience with all types of IT environments, whether based on Java, Linux, and open source or Microsoft Office and .NET. [more]
Registry Implementation and Operation
Statistical data-sharing involves the use of registry technology, which is often not one of the technical competencies of the institutions exchanging statistics. Metadata Technology understands both the latest registry technology, and the way in which it can best be deployed and operated in an SDMX or DDI framework, or in an integrated framework that includes XBRL. [more]
Technical Facilitation for Domain Groups
Content standardization is something that only the content experts can do, but they often lack the technical knowledge to express their expertise in the technical framework of the standard, such as SDMX, DII, or XBRL. Metadata Technology is experienced in the kind of facilitation that will make the most out of efforts at domain or sector harmonization. [more]
Metadata Repositories
Collecting metadata and building useful repositories can be challenging - Metadata Technology understands the many types of metadata within the statistical domain, and how they fit into the SDMX/DDI paradigm. We can help you to get the most out of this important resource. [more]
Mapping between standards
Many organisations that collect data at the primary reporting level using XBRL (e.g. directly from commercial financial institutions) often wish to process and use this data at the aggregate level. Similarly, primary data collected by DDI may need to transformed to the SDMX standard for further processing or for dissemination over the web using a registry. The standard for aggregated data is SDMX and Metadata Technology has the knowledge, skills, and tools to facilitate the integration of data using these all these standards. [more]
