Integration Support

Often, existing systems for data and metadata management and dissemination cannot simply be replaced, but must be integrated into the more capable systems being deployed. We can help you to manage the problems of systems integration and legacy, both with software and systems integration, and with expert advice regarding the migration and improvement processes for existing metadata holdings.

We do not work just with SDMX or DDI – we are also experts at helping our clients implement solutions which combine the two standards, most often in support of the Generic Statistical Business Process Model. This model is an excellent tool for understanding the process of data production, and makes an excellent framework for the combined implementation of SDMX and DDI together, with each used where it is the best tool for the task at hand.

Integration Support

Integration services we can provide for you

With over five years experience, plus our Fusion product range, we can assist you to:

  • Extract data from your database in SDMX format
  • Import SDMX-formatted data into your database
  • Set up automated validation processes
  • Create database tables using Data Structure Definitions
  • Open up your databases to SDMX queries
  • Install an organisation-wide SDMX registry or set of inter-communicating registries
  • We can even build you a complete web dissemination system: with the Fusion product range this is not a difficult task.

Integration services we have provided

We have been developing and integrating SDMX software for over five years. Here is a short introduction to the integration work we have produced.

Web Dissemination and SDMX

We have built a complete web dissemination “SDMX Layer” which communicates with an SDMX registry and a database that is SDMX enabled. The Registry is our Fusion Registry and the database is our Fusion Matrix. This is in live use today by a major organisation. This “SDMX Layer” communicates with a front-end visual layer developed using the organisation’s resources and we worked closely with them during the development cycle.

Integration of Fusion Registry into existing systems

We have major clients who have integrated the Fusion Registry into existing systems. We have helped these organisations integrate the registry in the following applications:

  • the registry is used to feed an application with up-to-date structure definitions so that SDMX data sets can be validated
  • the registry is used to maintain structural metadata and is integrated into a web dissemination system already in use by the organisation.
  • the registry is used as the central repository for maintenance of the structural metadata for the organisation
  • the registry is used to register the existence of new data sets: this registration triggers an automatic update of a database

Validation of Web Services

We have tested organisations’ web services to validate that the service is compliant with both SDMX web services standards and SDMX structural metadata and data standards.

Metadata is best captured as data production occurs, and DDI offers a set of tools for capturing and leveraging metadata, whether during the production process, to improve data management and archiving, or for dissemination to the end user.

We are familiar with the full range of DDI tools: we have worked with most, and been responsible for the development of many others. Our experience includes the integration of end-user solutions into a data and metadata management infrastructure; integration with process-management tools; and working with distributed data warehouses and metadata repositories.  Let us help you make sure you get your systems working together right!
