Metadata Repositories
Data and metadata are collected, processed, and disseminated using a variety of standards, each with specific roles to play in the domain for which they were developed: DDI for the data archive community, XBRL for financial reports, and SDMX for aggregated data of all kinds. Both DDI and SDMX have very strong support for associated metadata.
Many organisations are often involved in both primary and secondary reporting (reporting data aggregated from many primary reports) and need therefore to support more than one standard. This need not be a daunting task providing the data structures, concepts and coding schemes are known, and providing the underlying technical standards used for describing these are well understood. Metadata Technology have a vast amount of experience of mapping data and metadata between different standards and can help your organisation achieve this task.
