Technical

Our products and services build upon industry standard XML technologies and leverage international metadata recommendations for the management of statistical and scientific data. We are particularly focused on the Statistical Data and Metadata Exchange Standard (SDMX) and the Data Documentation Initiative (DDI). These specifications have been globally adopted by international organizations, statistical agencies, archives, research centers, academic institutions, and are ercognised best practices for socio-economic data and official statistics.

Statistical Data and Metadata Exchange (SDMX) is a global standard, currently in three backwardly compatible versions: 1.0, 2.0 and 2.1. Version 2.1 is at the end of its public review stage as of April 2011. SDMX is governed in ISO under Working Group 2 of Technical Committee 154 (ISO TC/154). Note that the version 1.0 of SDMX is ISO/TS 17369. The standard is published at SDMX.org.

Data Documentation Initiative (DDI) is a broadly adopted XML specification for the management, preservation, discovery, access and use of survey and administrative microdata. The standard is maintained by the DDI Alliance.

Our experts have been extensively involved in the technical design of these metadata specifications and can provide you with a unique know-how. We are also deeply familiar with issues surrounding the management of the underlying microdata data or aggregates statistics. In addition, we are also knowledgeable on closely related specifications such as GESMES, ISO 11179, Dublin Core, METS, and many others. We offer a unique set of skills in exploiting SDMX and DDI standards to enable your organization to better manage its data and metadata.
